NGXASI Dips -0.53% on Selloffs in Bellwether Counters

The NGXASI declined by 0.53% today to close at 97,709.38pts, as the selloffs observed in SEPLAT (-10.00%), UBA (-2.28%) and TRANSCORP (-4.37%) drove the market into the red zone.

In the fixed income space, the Treasury Bills secondary market traded on a positive note as yields decreased across the curve amid buying interest by investors. Consequently, Average T-Bills yield fell by 4bps to close at 22.41%. However, the FGN Bond market traded on a slightly negative note as the Average FGN Bond yield inched up by 1bp to close at 18.62%.

At the NAFEM window, the Naira weakened by 0.80% to close at NGN 1,478.11/USD. Crude oil price (Brent) rose by 0.63% to USD83.31pb.
