NGXASI Advance +0.54%, Buoyed by Banking Counters

The NGXASI advanced by 0.54% to close at 242,141.61pts, as the losses recorded in FIRSTHOLDCO (+9.97%), ZENITHBANK(+2.70%) and GTCO (+1.73%) drove the local equities market into the positive region.
 
In the fixed income space, the Treasury Bills secondary market traded on a flattish note, driven by the mixed sentiment observed across the benchmark curve. As a result, the Average T-Bills yield remained unchanged to close at 18.40%. Elsewhere, the FGN Bond secondary market traded on a positive note as the Average FGN Bond yield declined by 3bps to close at 17.61%.
 
At the NFEM window, the Naira appreciated by 0.10% to close at NGN1,380.18/USD. Crude oil price (Brent) rose by 3.02% to close at USD86.77pb.
