Today, Mastercard reported a strong second quarter of 2026, demonstrating how our long-term strategy continues to drive growth while creating the foundation to shape what comes next. That has been a constant throughout Mastercard’s 60 years: Commerce never stands still, and neither do we. From being a critical enabler of e-commerce to the shift to digital payments to the rise of AI-powered commerce today, Mastercard continually evolves to support our customers.
That momentum continued this quarter. We’ve continued to drive the secular shift while investing to strengthen the infrastructure that enables trust and security in every transaction.
Powering the infrastructure for digital payments
Even with more than 175 billion transactions processed on our network last year, there remains a significant opportunity to support consumer, business and government payment needs through solutions tailored to local needs. I’d note two examples. In Mexico, our work with Clip and Ant International is creating a digital wallet ecosystem to help accelerate digital payments in a market that has traditionally relied on cash. And in the UAE, our partnership with Al Etihad Payments, a subsidiary of the country’s Central Bank, will define the future of the nation’s payment system for years while also delivering a first-of-its-kind Jaywan co-badged credit card.
Preparing the future of agentic commerce
The digital economy is evolving, and Mastercard is helping customers prepare for what’s next. We’re extending today’s trusted infrastructure to support a new era of AI-powered commerce. This includes scaling Mastercard Agent Pay through live agentic commerce transactions around the world. We’re working with more than 30 industry leaders on our Agent Pay for Machines service, allowing transactions to be permissioned, orchestrated and settled at machine speed across our network. And similar work is taking place to advance our digital assets strategy, from expanding settlement options for weekend and intraday payments to collaboration with the ecosystem to help scale with support of Open Standard. This is reinforced in our planned acquisition of BVNK — supporting our customers seamlessly across virtually every form of money with the trust, interoperability and security they expect from Mastercard.
Protecting the ecosystem as it evolves
This quarter, Mastercard continued to strengthen the ecosystem with solutions that help identify threats faster and enhance security across the payments journey. As online scams become more prevalent and sophisticated, our new Merchant Trust Services combines the power of our network, cyber capabilities and real-time analytics to identify risky merchants earlier and strengthen trust in digital commerce.
As commerce continues to evolve, so does our opportunity to grow. Our teams in every market across the globe are working every day to ensure the best technology is applied by Mastercard and our partners to enable new forms of commerce, strengthening the trust and security that create long-term value for our customers, partners and shareholders.
Thank you for your continued support of Mastercard.
