EQUITIES
The domestic bourse market kicked off the week on a bullish note, as gains in AIRTELAFRI (+8.6%), GTCO (+1.6%), UBA (+3.0%) and ACCESSCORP (+4.1%) drove the All-Share Index higher by 1.2% to 248,556.30 points. Consequently, the Month-to-Date and Year-to-Date returns settled higher at +1.3% and +59.7%, respectively.
The total volume traded declined by 30.5% to 1.06 billion units, valued at NGN23.78 billion, and exchanged in 55,414 deals. ACCESSCORP was the most traded stock by volume at 48.08 million units, while FIRSTHOLDCO was the most traded stock by value at NGN5.12 billion, respectively.
Sectoral performance was mixed as the Consumer Goods (+0.8%) index advanced, while the Insurance (-1.1%), Banking (-0.3%), Oil and Gas (-0.1%) and Industrial Goods (-0.1%) indices declined.
As measured by market breadth, market sentiment was negative (0.6x), as 21 tickers gained relative to 37 losers. AVACAP (-10.0%) and ETI (-9.9%) led the laggards, while CHAMS (+9.8%) and NAHCO (+9.3%) posted the most significant gains for the day.
CURRENCY
The official FX rate appreciated by 0.4% to NGN1,360.52/USD.
MONEY MARKET & FIXED INCOME
The overnight lending rate closed flat at 22.1%.
The Treasury bill secondary market traded on a bullish note as the average yield contracted by 3bps to 18.1%. Across the curve, the average yield contracted at the short (-2bps), mid (-4bps) and long (-2bps) segments, driven by demand for the 87DTM (-2bps), 178DTM (-24bps) and 192DTM (-19bps) bills, respectively. Similarly, the average yield contracted by 4bps to 21.4% in the OMO segment.
Elsewhere, the FGN bond secondary market traded on a bullish note as the average yield contracted by 2bps to 16.6%. Across the benchmark curve, the average yield contracted at the short (-4bps) and mid (-1bp) segments, driven by demand for the FEB-2031 (-9bps) and JUN-2033 (-4bps) bonds, respectively. Meanwhile, the long end closed flat.
