NGXASI Dips -0.74%, Dragged by Bellwether Tickers

The NGXASI declined by 0.74% to close at 246,723.57pts, as the losses recorded in MTNN (-4.73%), FIRSTHOLDCO (-1.41%) and TRANSCORP (-2.59%) drove the local equities market into the red.
 
In the fixed income space, the Treasury Bills secondary market traded on a negative note, driven by the sell sentiment observed across the benchmark curve. As a result, the Average T-Bills yield advanced by 5bps to close at 18.14%. Similarly, the FGN Bond secondary market traded on a weak note as the Average FGN Bond yield increased by 6bps to close at 16.88%
 
At the NFEM window, the Naira weakened by 0.35% to close at NGN1,364.90/USD. Crude oil price (Brent) rose by 1.37% to close at USD88.92pb.
