NGX Retreats as Consumer Stocks Face Sharp Selling

Market Summary:

 

  • Today, the Nigerian Exchange Market closed on a  closed on a negative note due to share price depreciation in BUAFOODS (-10.00%) and UNILEVER (-9.97%) 

 

  • As a result, the benchmark Nigerian Exchange All-Share Index (NGX-ASI) fell by 1.12% to settle at 243,967.09 points

 

  • Year to date returns fell to settle at 56.78%

 

  • Market capitalisation also fell by 1.11% to close at N157.49tn ($115.39bn)

 

  • Activity level in the market fell with the total value and volume of stocks traded falling by 35.35% and 62.78% to settle at N20.94bn and 1.46bn units respectively.
