EQUITIES
The Nigerian equities market opened the week on a positive note, as gains in HBMNG (+2.8%), GTCO (+3.0%), TRANSCORP (+6.8%) and NASCON (+10.0%) caused the All-Share Index to close higher by 0.1% to 250,156.80 points. Consequently, the Month-to-Date and Year-to-Date returns settled at +2.4% and +60.8%, respectively.
The total volume traded advanced by 9.2% to 574.19 million units, valued at NGN38.06 billion, and exchanged in 68,655 deals. ZENITHBANK was the most traded stock by volume and value at 53.58 million units and NGN9.90 billion, respectively.
Sectoral performance was bullish, as the Banking (+2.1%), Industrial Goods (+0.5%), Insurance (+0.3%), and Consumer Goods (+0.3%) indices advanced, while the Oil & Gas (-0.4%) index declined.
As measured by market breadth, market sentiment was positive (1.6x), as 39 tickers gained relative to 25 losers. SUNUASSUR (+10.0%) and OMATEK (+10.0%) led the gainers, while OKOMUOIL (-10.0%) and CUSTODIAN (-9.1%) posted the most significant losses of the day.
CURRENCY
The official FX rate appreciated by 0.1% to NGN1,330.36/USD.
MONEY MARKET & FIXED INCOME
The overnight lending rate remained unchanged at 22.2%.
The Treasury bill secondary market traded on a bullish note as average yield contracted by 3bps to 18.8%. Across the curve, the average yield contracted at the short (-3bps), mid (-3bps) and long (-4bps) segments, driven by buying activities on the 80DTM (-3bps), 178DTM (-3bps) and 290DTM (-17bps) bills, respectively. Likewise, the average yield contracted by 6bps to 20.2% in the OMO segment.
Similarly, the FGN bond secondary market traded on a bullish note as the average yield contracted by 13bps to 16.2%. Across the curve, the average yield contracted at the short (-38bps) end, driven by demand for the MAR-2027 (-242bps) bond, while the average yield remained unchanged at the mid and long segments.
