MPC Reduces Benchmark Policy Rate to 23.0%

September 22, 2026/CSL Update

The Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) decided to reduce the Monetary Policy Rate (MPR). A breakdown of all parameters is as follows:

  • Reduces the Monetary Policy Rate (MPR) by 350bps to 23.0%
  • Adjusted Asymmetric Corridor at +50/-300 basis points around the MPR.
  • Cash Reserve Ratio (CRR) retained at 45.0% for Deposit Money Banks and 16.0% for Merchant Banks.
  • Retained 75% CRR on Non-Treasury Single Account (TSA) public sector deposits.
  • Retain the Liquidity Ratio at 30.0%.
