Minimum Wage: NLC to begin nationwide strike Nov.10

•Feds Govt sets up committee

Following the breakdown of a tripartite agreement reached by the Federal and state governments, labour and private sector employers on the implementation of the new minimum wage, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has called for a three-day warning strike. The job boycott will hold between November 10 and 12.

A  committee to ensure the take-off of the strike has been inaugurated with  the NLC Vice President, Comrade Promise Adewusi as chairman. Addressing reporters yesterday in Abuja, NLC reviewed the steps that have been taken so far towards the implementation of the new minimum wage and the short comings of the Federal Government.

The National Economic Council yesterday set up a committee to sort out the minimum wage issue.

Vice President Namadi Sambo is head of the committee which also has Edo Governor Adams Oshiomhole, Lagos Governor Babatunde Fashola, Enugu Governor Sullivan Chime, Benue Governor Gabriel Suswam and Jigawa Governor Sule Lamido.The committee is expected to submit its report in two weeks.
