Lagos (INVESTADVOCATE)-Insurer, Great Nigeria Insurance Plc (GNI) on Wednesday said it has appointed Olugbenga Awosode as non-executive director (ED) of the company.

According to GNI in an issuer’s announcement with the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) Awosode is a 1975 law graduate (LLB Hons.) of University of Ile-Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) and obtained his B.L. from the Nigerian Law School, Lagos (1980 – 1981).

He started his working career at Cooperative Bank Plc (1972 – 1975) as an accounts clerk and had his NYSC programme at the College of Legal Studies, Katsina in 1981. Between 1982 and 1984  Awosede worked with the Ministry of Justice, Oyo State as State Counsel and has been in private practice from 1984 to date, the insurer affirmed.

He has held several positions in the society among which are chairman, Committee for Defence of Human Rights, Oyo State (1992 – 2005); national president, Committee for Defence of Human Rights (2005 – 2007) and is presently the legal adviser to the Nigeria Labour Congress, Oyo State (1987 – date) and legal adviser National Union of Food Beverages & Tobacco Employees (NUFBTE) Oyo State (1991 – to date).
