IMF Says Ready to Assist Greece If Requested-Lagarde

Lagos (INVESTADVOCATE)-Christine Lagarde, managing director (MD) of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) said on Monday the global lender is ready to assist Greece if requested.

“The IMF has taken note of yesterday’s referendum held in Greece. We are monitoring the situation closely and stand ready to assist Greece if requested to do so,” Lagarde said.

This is coming on the heels of Sunday’s referendum held in the country where Greeks voted resoundingly to back the government in rejecting the austerity terms of a bailout.
