Lagos (INVESTADVOCATE)-Insurer, Prestige Assurance Plc said on Monday it has appointed Hassan Musa Usman as its new board chairman, the insurer said in an issuer’s announcement to the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE).
This is coming on the heels of the resignation of Gopalan Srinivasan as chairman effective 14 October 2015.
The insurer said the appointment of Usman as the chairman was as a result of prayers of its shareholders at the 45th Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on July 13, 2015 where they expressed their wishes to have a Nigerian as the chairman of the company.
PRESTIGE says Usman graduated with a BA, in Economics (2:1) from the University of Sussex, and an M.Phil. in Development Economics from Darwin College, University of Cambridge.
He is an Associate of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.
He is also a Registered US National Association of Securities Dealers Series 7 Investment Banking Representative.
The Bank said Usman has a career spanning over 20 years in the finance and investment advisory as well as Privatisation services covering various sectors and global regions.
He recently retired as the CEO Aso Savings and Loans Plc. after serving his tenure of ten years.
The lender added that prior to becoming the MD of Aso Savings and Loans. He was the executive director (investment) Abuja Investment and Property Development Company Ltd, the lender added.
He worked in various organisations amongst which are Citibank, Arthur Andersen S.C London and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
