Lagos (INVESTADVOCATE)-Computer Warehouse Group Plc (CWG) said on Monday it has appointed Abiodun Bamidele Fawunmi as the new chairman of the company following the death of its former chairman, Willie Belonwu, the company said in an issuer’s announcement with the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE).
CWG said the Abiodun was appointed at the board meeting of the company held on Thursday November 22, 2015. “Abiodun Fawunmi is a highly experienced technology expert who, in his career, has led multicultural professional teams to high levels of effectiveness in a variety of competitive industries and fast-paced environments,” the company said.
CWG affirmed that armed with strong technical and business qualifications, he has created an impressive track record of more than 35 years of hands-on experience in strategic planning, business development and resource management.
Fawunmi holds Post-graduate level degrees in Engineering, Computing and Business Administration from various African and European Universities. He also had short term training in Finance, Management of International Organisations and Developmental Economics from Ivy League Universities in the United States of America.
He has played significant roles in multi-national organizations such as Shell, Unilever, PriceWaterhouseCoopers, Coca-Cola and the United Nations. Between 2004 and 2011, he was the Head of Infrastructure Services at the United Nations International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna.
He is currently the chief information officer (CIO) at the United Nations International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (UNICTR).
The company says prior to his appointment as chairman, Fawunmi was a non-executive director and chairman of the General Purpose Committee of the board.
