MIDDAY UPDATE: Nigerian Stocks Decline -0.35% on Losses in Banking, Consumer Goods Counters

Market movers: UACN (-6.82%) OKOMUOIL (-5.57%), NEIMETH (+10.00%) and IKEJAHOTEL (+9.47%).

Sector Performances: Banking (-1.07%), Consumer Goods (-0.06%) Industrial (+0.03%) and Oil & Gas.

Market activity: In today’s early trade, total volume and value fell by 65% and 80% respectively compared to this time last week Friday as investors have exchanged about 54million units of shares valued at N401million. ZENITHBANK (+0.27%) is the most actively traded stock thus far with about 7million units of shares accounting for about 13% of the total volume. 

Likely close: In the absence of a significant gain in the price of DANGCEM and MTNN, the market may close down today if the losses recorded in the Banking and Consumer Goods sectors persist.
