The Nigerian equities market closed negative today as NSE-ASI declined by 0.13% to close at 26,536.21pts. Consequently, WtD performance printed at –1.19%.
However, in today’s trade, market breadth index was positive with 20 gainers against 12 losers.
AGLEVENT (+8.33%) led the gainers’ chart while GLAXOSMITH (-9.48%) was the top loser today.
UBA (-3.56%) was the most actively traded stock with about 43million units of shares worth about N285million.
Sector Performance
· NSE Oil & Gas Index: Declined by 0.55%, on the back of the losses in OANDO (-4.74%) and CAVERTON (-3.92%).
· NSE Banking Index: Rose by 0.99%, on the back of buy interests in JAIZBANK (+6.35%), ETI (+5.34%), UBN (+3.17%), WEMABANK (+3.08%) and ACCESS (+1.62%).
· NSE Industrial Index: Gained by 0.71% due to the rise in WAPCO (+3.33%).
· NSE Consumer Goods Index: Was up 0.38% , as a result of the gains in PZ (+5.00%) and DANGSUGAR (+3.44%).

The equities market closed down today as result of the losses recorded in the Oil & Gas sector and MTNN (-2.29%). We still maintain our view that investors should take positions in quality names with a medium to long time investment horizon as prices remain attractive at current levels.
