Bulls Dominate Post-Christmas Era as NSE-ASI Gains +1.25%

The Nigerian equities market closed positive today as NSE-ASI gained 1.25% to close at 26,416.48pts.

Similarly, in today’s trade, market breadth index was positive with 23 gainers against 9 losers.

NEM (+10.00%) was the top gainer today while MAYBAKER (-9.81%) led the losers’ chart.                                                                                                 

ACCESS (+0.51%) was the most actively traded stock with about 42million units of shares worth about N418million. 

Sector Performance

·         NSE Consumer Goods Index: Jumped 4.81%, due to the buy interests in NESTLE (+10.00%), UACN (+5.56%), NASCON (+3.20%) and DANGSUGAR (+1.10%).

·         NSE Banking Index: Advanced by 0.53%, as a result of the gains in UBA (+3.70%), ZENITHBANK (+1.38%), ETI (+0.79%) and ACCESS (+0.51%).

·         NSE Oil & Gas Index: Declined by 0.21%, on the back of the losses in JAPAULOIL (-4.55%) and OANDO (-1.89%).

·         NSE Industrial Index: Closed flat.

The equities market closed up today as a result of the gains recorded in most sectors. We still maintain our view that investors should take positions in quality names with a medium to long time investment horizon as prices remain attractive at current levels.
