Nigerian Equities Market Closes Year 2019 Positive

The Nigerian equities market closed positive today as NSE-ASI gained 0.87% to close at 26,842.07pts. However Market closed negative YTD 14.60%.

In today’s trade, market breadth index was positive with 24 gainers against 12 losers.

VITAFOAM (+10.00%) was the top gainer today while CUTIX (-8.28%) led the losers’ chart.                                                                                                 

OMOMORBNK was the most actively traded stock with about 796million units of shares worth about N438million.

Sector Performance 

·        NSE Oil & Gas Index: Gained 6.71%, as a result of the increase in SEPLAT (+10.00%), ETERNA (+9.09%) and OANDO (+8.42%).

·        NSE Industrial Index: Advanced by 2.17%, as a result of the gains in WAPCO (+9.29%) and DANGCEM (+0.35%).

·        NSE Banking Index: Jumped 1.37%, due to the buy interests in WEMABANK (+5.71%), ACCESS (+2.56%), GUARANTY (+2.41%), ETI (+2.36%) and UBA (+0.70%).

·        NSE Consumer Goods Index: Was down by 0.28%, as a result of the declines in DANGSUGAR (-1.45%) and NB (-1.26%).

The equities market closed up today as result of the gains recorded in most sectors. We still maintain our view that investors should take positions in quality names with a medium to long time investment horizon as prices remain attractive at current levels.
