MIDDAY UPDATE: Nigerian Stocks Gain +3.13%, Driven by Industrial, Consumer Goods Counters

ASI as at 12.00pm: +3.13%. 

Market movers: DANGCEM (+10.00%), CHAMPION (+10.00%),   UNIONDICON (-9.88%) and NIGERINS (-4.76%).

Sector Performances: Industrial (+3.22%), Consumer Goods (+0.05%), Banking (-0.54%)and Oil & Gas (-0.07%).

Market activity: In today’s early trade, while total volume increased by 58%, total value shed 7% compared to yesterday as investors have exchanged about 397million units of shares valued at N2.67billion. WAPIC (+5.71%) is the most actively traded stock thus far with about 187million units of shares accounting for about 47% of the total volume. 

Likely close: In the absence of a significant loss in the prices of DANGCEM and MTNN, the market may close up today if the gains recorded in Industrial and Consumer names persist.
