The Nigerian equities market closed negative today as NSE-ASI shed 1.05% to close at 27,772.19pts.
Market breadth index was somewhat flat with 17 losers against 16 gainers.
SOVRENINS (+10.00%) was the top gainer today while NESTLE (-10.00%) led the losers’ chart.
FBNH (-2.50%) was the most actively traded stock with about 36million units of shares worth about N212million.
Sector Performance
· NSE Consumer Goods Index: Fell by 4.75%, as a result of the declines in NESTLE (-10.00%), MAYBAKER (-6.91%) and HONYFLOUR (-0.91%).
· NSE Oil & Gas Index: Shed 0.55% due to the loss in OANDO (-4.17%).
· NSE Banking Index: Lost 0.54% on the back of the sell-offs in FIDELITYBK (-1.84%), ACCESS (-1.53%), GUARANTY (-0.68%) and UBA (-0.65%).
· NSE Industrial Index: Advanced by 0.76%, due to the buy-interest in BUACEMENT (+1.69%).

The equities market closed down today as a result of the losses recorded in most sectors. We still maintain our view that investors should take positions in quality names with a medium to long time investment horizon as prices remain attractive at current levels.
