MIDDAY UPDATE: Nigerian Stocks Inch Down -0.40% Dragged by Consumer, Industrial Counters

ASI as at 12.00pm: -0.40%. 

Market movers: ABCTRANS (-5.88%), BUACEMENT (-4.89%), JAPAULOIL (+5.00%), and OANDO (+4.35%).

Sector Performances: Industrial (-3.00%), Consumer Goods (-0.30%), Oil & Gas (+0.56%) and Banking (+0.38%).

Market activity: In today’s early trade, while total volume was similar to the level of last Friday, total value fell by 7% compared to this time last Friday as investors have traded 53million units of shares worth about N447million. UCAP (+2.04%) is the most actively traded stock thus far with about 12million units of shares accounting for about 23% of the total volume. 

Likely close: In the absence of a significant gain in the prices of DANGCEM and MTNN, the market may close down today if the losses in Industrial and Consumer names persist.
