The Nigerian equities market closed negative today as NSE-ASI lost 0.67% to close at 27,570.94pts.
In today’s trade, market breadth index was negative with 18 losers against 11 gainers.
LAWUNION (-9.57%) was the top loser today while JAIZBANK (+6.25%) led the gainers’ chart.
ZENITHBANK (-0.25%) was the most actively traded stock with about 22million units of shares worth about N442million.
Sector Performance
· NSE Industrial Index: Closed down by 1.55%, due to the losses in WAPCO (-2.58%) and BUACEMENT (-2.23%).
· NSE Banking Index: Shed 1.46%, on the back of the sell-offs in UNITYBNK (-8.77%), GUARANTY (-3.01%), FCMB (-2.67%), FIDELITYBK (-0.47%) and ZENITHBANK (-0.25%).
· NSE Consumer Goods Index: Lost 1.25%, following the declines in INTBREW (-9.03%), DANGSUGAR (-3.89) and HONYFLOUR (-3.74%).
· NSE Oil & Gas Index: Increased by 0.56%, majorly driven by the gains in JAPAULOIL (+5.00%) and OANDO (+4.35%).

The equities market closed down today due to the losses recorded across most sectors. We still maintain our view that investors should take positions in quality names with a medium to long time investment horizon as prices remain attractive at current levels.
