MIDDAY UPDATE: Nigerian Stocks Down -0.14%, Dragged by Banking Counters

Market movers:  GUARANTY (-3.87%), ZENITHBANK (-1.30%), UNILEVER (+10.00%) and MCNICHOLS (+9.52%).

Sector Performances:  Banking (-1.45%), Oil & Gas (+1.04%), Consumer Goods (+0.41%) and Industrial.   

Market activity: In today’s early trade, while total volume rose by 31%,  total value fell by 32%  compared to this time last week Friday as investors have traded 77million units of shares worth about N409million. REGALINS is the most actively traded stock thus far with about 17million units of shares accounting for about 22% of the total volume. 

Likely close: In the absence of significant gains in the prices of MTNN and DANGCEM, the market may close down today if the losses in Banking names persist.
