MIDDAY UPDATE: Nigerian Stocks Inch Up +0.13% Driven by Consumer Goods Counters

Market movers: FTNCOCOA (+10.00%), JAPAULGOLD (+9.88%), NAHCO (-4.35%) and GUINNESS (-4.08%).

Sector Performances:  Banking (+0.59%), Consumer Goods (-0.29%), Industrial (-1.07%)  and Oil & Gas.

Market activity: In today’s early trade, while total volume fell by 18%, total value increased by 19% compared to this time yesterday as investors have traded about 93million units of shares worth N1.08billion. DANGSUGAR (+3.83%) is the most actively traded stock thus far with about 20million units of shares accounting for about 22% of the total volume.

Likely close: In the absence of significant losses in the prices of DANGCEM and MTN, the market may close up today if the gains in the Banking and Consumer Goods sectors persist.
