MIDDAY UPDATE: Nigerian Stocks Inch Down -0.02% Dragged by Banking Counters

Market movers: BOCGAS (-9.96%), NEIMETH (-8.64%), LIVESTOCK (+10.00%) and ARDOVA (+9.79%).

Sector Performances:  Banking (-0.01%), Oil & Gas (+0.33%), Consumer Goods (+0.05%) and Industrial.

Market activity: In today’s early trade, total volume and value increased by 108% and 26% respectively compared to this time last Friday as investors have traded about 202million units of shares worth N876million. MBENEFIT (+7.14%) is the most actively traded stock thus far with about 100million units of shares accounting for about 50% of the total volume.

Likely close: In the absence of significant losses in the prices of DANGCEM and MTN, the market may close down today if the loss in the Banking sector persists.
