The domestic bourse All Share Index (ASI) gained 1.21% to close at 41,584.94 points even as the Monetary policy Committee (MPC) held all key rates at the end of its first meeting in the year.
Also,the Exchange printed 32 gainers as against 19 losers at the close of trading session. Hence, the year-to-date gain of the NSE ASI jumped to 3.26%.
Specifically, we saw investors reacted to the positive 9M 2020 results of Flourmills; hence its share price rose by 6.25%. Also, large-cap stocks such as AIRTELAFRI, MTN and WAPCO enjoyed investor’s patronage as their respective share prices increased by 7.60%, 0.53% and 3.77%.
Of the five indices tracked, three closed in green; the NSE Insurance, NSE Consumer Goods and NSE Industrial climbed by 0.40%, 0.54% and 0.25% respectively.
However, the NSE Banking and NSE Oil/Gas moderated by 0.14% and 5.31% respectively. Meanwhile, activity in the market was upbeat as total deals, volume and value of stocks traded rose by 6.21%, 40.41% and 110.79% to 5,990deals, 0.46billion units and N5.56billion respectively.
