MIDDAY UPDATE: Nigerian Stocks Down -0.20% Dragged by Banking, Oil & Gas Sectors

Market movers: TRANSCORP (-9.09%), SOVRENINS (-7.69%), JAPAULGOLD (+4.17%) and FIDELITYBK (+2.68%).

Sector Performances: Oil & Gas (-0.10%), Banking (-0.07%), Consumer Goods (+0.28%) and Industrial Flat.

Market activity: In today’s early trade, total volume and value declined 8% and 0.5% respectively, compared to this time yesterday, as investors have traded about 68million units of shares worth N674million.  ZENITHBANK is the most actively traded stock thus far with about 5million units of shares accounting for about 7.3% of the total volume.

Likely close: In the absence of significant gains in the prices of DANGCEM and MTN, the market may close down today if the losses in Banking and Oil and Gas sectors persist.
