MIDDAY UPDATE: Nigerian Stocks Heads South, Dragged by Banking, Consumer Goods Counters

Market movers:  CHAMPION (-8.04%) ETI (-5.88%),  CAP(+10.00%) and WAPIC (+6.00%).

Sector Performances: Banking (-0.55%), Consumer Goods (-0.15%) Industrial (+0.02%) and Oil and Gas.

Market activity: In today’s early trade, total volume and value increased by about 92% and 200% respectively, compared to this time yesterday, as investors have traded about 162million units of shares worth  N3billion.  DANGSUGAR(-0.55%) is the most actively traded stock thus far with about 106million units of shares accounting for about 65% of the total volume.

Likely close: In the absence of significant gains in the prices of DANGCEM and MTN, the market may close down today if the losses in Banking and Consumer Goods sectors persist.
