The local bourse continued yesterday’s bullish trend, albeit at a slower pace as the NGX-ASI moved upwards by 0.15% to settle at 53,238.67pts.
In today’s trade, market breadth index was significantly positive with 29 gainers against 18 losers.
VERITASKAP (+10.00%) led the gainers today, while the top loser was CHAMS (-10.00%).
UNIVINSURE was the most actively traded stock with about 48.5 million units of shares worth about N9.7 million.
Sector Performances
- NGX Industrial Index: Advanced marginally by 0.03% on the back of the gains recorded in CAP (+3.84%), CUTIX (+0.98%) and WAPCO (+0.40%).
- NGX Consumer Goods Index: Fell by 0.17%, due to the negative performances seen in HONYFLOUR (-4.59%), FLOURMIL (-2.91%) and NB (-0.36%).
- NGX Banking Index: Decreased by 0.03%, driven by the bearish sentiment seen in UNITYBANK (-9.09%), STERLNBANK (-2.52%) and JAIZBANK (-2.22%).
- NGX Oil and Gas Index: Closed flat.

The Nigerian equities market recorded a positive performance today due to the gains observed in the Industrial sector. Going forward, we expect investor’s sentiments to be swayed by the search for real positive returns and developments in the interest rate space. We reiterate that this may be a great period to pick up some quality names with a medium to long-term investment horizon.
