The Nigerian equities market rose by 0.05% as the NGX-ASI settled at 52,605.78pts.
In today’s trade, market breadth index was significantly positive with 32 gainers against 19 losers.
CONOIL (+10.00%) was the top gainer today, while UNITYBNK (-9.26%) led the losers.
ACCESSCORP (-1.30%) was the most actively traded stock with about 130 million units of shares worth about N1.48 billion.
Sector Performances
· NGX Oil and Gas Index: Rose by 1.12%, on the back of the uptick in the prices of CONOIL (+10.00%) and ARDOVA (+3.91%).
· NGX Banking Index: Climbed by 0.76%, due to the gains printed in ETI (+7.14%), JAIZBANK (+4.40%) and FIDELITYBK (+4.11%).
· NGX Consumer Goods Index: Fell by 0.73%, driven by the selloffs recorded in NB (+8.29%), HONYFLOUR (-2.27%) and INTBREW (+2.13%).
· NGX Industrial Index: Closed flat.

The local equities market increased due to the positive performance seen in the Oil and Gas and Banking sectors today. Going forward, we expect investor’s sentiments to be swayed by the search for real positive returns and developments in the interest rate space. We reiterate that this may be a great period to pick up some quality names with a medium to long-term investment horizon.
