Nigerian Equities Closes Week Higher

May 26, 2023/InvestmentOne Update

The Nigerian bourse witnessed an uptick by 0.29% as the NGX-ASI settled at 52,973.88pts.

In today’s trade, market breadth index was significantly positive with 42 gainers against 11 losers.

NASCON (+10.00%) was the top gainer today, while SOVRENINS (-7.69%) led the losers.

UBA (+6.29%) was the most actively traded stock with about 59 million units of shares worth about N529 million. 

Sector Performances

·         NGX Banking Index: Expanded by 2.14%, driven by the gains printed in UBA (+6.29%), UBN (+4.96%) and ACCESSCORP (+3.64%).

·         NGX Oil and Gas Index: Increased by 1.05%, due to the bullish trend observed in CONOIL (+9.98%) and ETERNA (+2.94%).

·         NGX Consumer Goods Index: Rose by 0.41%, caused by the increase in prices of NASCON (+10.00%), CHAMPION (+6.36%) and DANGSUGAR (+3.09%).

·         NGX Industrial Index: Declined by 0.88%, on the back of the negative sentiment seen in BERGER (-2.79%) and BUACEMENT (-2.22%).

The local equities market closed in green due to the gains recorded across major sectors.
