MIDDAY UPDATE: Nigerian Stocks Down -0.61% on Plunge in the Consumer Goods Sector

ASI as at 12.00pm: -0.61%. 

Market movers: NESTLE (-10.00%), NASCON (-10.00%), OANDO (+8.33%), CUSTODIAN (+7.14%).

Sector Performances: Consumer Goods (-4.92%), Oil & Gas (+0.98%), Banking (+0.64%) and Industrial.

Market activity: In today’s early trade, total volume and value fell by 8% and 54% respectively compared to this time yesterday as investors have exchanged about 75million units of shares worth about N544million. STERLNBANK (-5.53%) is the most actively traded stock thus far with about 24million units of shares accounting for about 32% of total volume.  

Likely close: In the absence of a significant gain in DANGCEM, the market may close down today if the plunge in the Consumer Goods sector persists.
