Losses in Dangote Cement, MTNN Drags Down NSEASI by -0.25%

The Nigerian equities market closed negative today as NSE-ASI lost 0.25% to close at 27,283.05pts. 

Similarly, market breadth index was negative with 15 losers against 13 gainers.                   

SKYAVN (-9.89%) led the loser’s chart while  CONTINSURE (+9.55%) was the top gainer today. 

ACCESS (+5.11%) was the most actively traded stock with about 134million units of shares worth about N926million.

Sector Performance 

·        NSE Consumer Goods Index: Rose by 0.54%, due to the buy interests recorded in INTBREW (+5.00%), DANGSUGAR (+3.38%), NB (+0.96%) and DANGFLOUR (+0.45%).

·        NSE Banking Index: Advanced by 0.23%, following the increase in ACCESS (+5.11%) and UBA (+0.83%).

·        NSE Industrial Index: Was down by 0.55%, on the back of the declines in CUTIX (-3.03%) and DANGCEM (-1.30%).

·        NSE Oil & Gas Index:  Closed Flat

Market Insight 

The equities market closed down today due to the loss recorded in Industrial sector and MTNN. We maintain that investors should take positions in quality names with a medium to long time investment horizon as prices remain attractive at current levels.
