MIDDAY UPDATE: Nigerian Stocks Inch Up +0.03% Driven by Banking, Consumer Goods Counters

Market movers:   TRANSCORP (+8.45%), JAPAULOIL (+8.33%), WAPIC (-9.09%), ABCTRANS (-8.82%).

Sector Performances:   Banking (+0.10%)Consumer Goods (+0.02%), Oil & Gas and Industrial.

Market activity: In today’s early trade, total volume and value rose by 233% and 270% respectively compared to this time yesterday, as investors have traded about 183million units of shares worth N3.46billion. FBNH (+0.79%) is the most actively traded stock thus far with about 54million units of shares accounting for about 30% of the total volume.

Likely close: In the absence of significant losses in the prices of DANGCEM and MTN, the market may close up today if the gains in Banking and Consumer Goods sector persist.
