MIDDAY UPDATE: Nigerian Stocks Inch Up +0.36%, Driven by Buy Interest in MTNN

Market movers:   MBENEFIT (+9.52%), UPL (+5.67%), ETI (-4.76%) and UBA (-4.62%).

Sector Performances:   Banking (-1.01%), Consumer Goods (-0.02%), Oil & Gas and Industrial.

Market activity: In today’s early trade, total volume and value rose by about 79% and 918% compared to yesterday as investors have traded about 134million units of shares worth N5.37billion. MTNN (+3.23%) is the most actively traded stock thus far with about 27million units of shares accounting for about 20% of the total volume.

Likely close: In the absence of significant losses in the prices of DANGCEM and MTN, the market may close up today if the buy interest in MTN persists.
