Vitor Gaspar, Director of the IMF’s Fiscal Affairs Department, will present the findings of the analytical chapter of the upcoming IMF Fiscal Monitor on “Upgrading the Tax System to Boost Productivity” at the Peterson Institute for International Economics (PIIE). As boosting the productivity growth is at the top of the global agenda, during the presentation Mr. Gaspar will discuss how the design of tax policies and tax administration can minimize resource misallocation, which can bring substantial gains for productivity. Jason Furman, senior fellow at the Peterson Institute, and Mihir Desai, professor of finance at Harvard Business School and professor of law at Harvard Law School, will provide comments on the report. The event will be webcast live at piie.com and IMF.org.
