The Nigerian equities market closed positive today by 1.59% as NGX-ASI closed at 40,221.17 pts.
In today’s trade, market breadth index was positive with 20 gainers against 14 losers.
UPL (+9.82%) led the gainers, while CHAMS (-8.70%) was the top loser today.
TRANSCOHOT was the most actively traded stock with about 763million units of shares worth about N2.87billion.
Sector Performances
- NGX Industrial Index: Increased by 4.08%, due to the gains recorded in DANGCEM (+7.28%), WAPCO (+0.66%), and CUTIX (+1.02% ).
- NGX Banking Index: Decreased by 0.30%, due to the sell pressure recorded in UBN (-2.00%), UBA (-0.66%), and ZENITHBANK (-0.21%).
- NGX Consumer Goods Index: Fell by 0.13%, due to the losses recorded in UNILEVER (-2.22%) and NESTLE (-0.60%).

- NGX Oil and Gas Index: Declined by 0.12%, due to the sell-off recorded in OANDO (-0.58%).

The equities market closed positive today due to the gains recorded in the Industrial sector.
