The Nigerian equities market closed northwards by 0.19% as NGX-ASI closed at 46,777.37pts.
In today’s trade, market breadth index was negative with 18 gainers against 20 losers.
MEYER (+8.86%) was the top gainer, while NPFMCRFBK (-9.64%) led the losers today.
FIDELITY was the most actively traded stock with about 67million units of shares worth about N230million.
Sector Performances
· NGX Banking Index: Increased by 1.73%, due to the gains printed in ZENITHBANK (+3.41%), JAIZBANK (+1.52%) and UBA (+1.33%).
· NGX Oil and Gas Index: Appreciated by 0.27%, as a result of the buy-interest witnessed in SEPLAT (+2.15%) and OANDO (+1.25%).
· NGX Consumer Goods Index: Fell by 0.34%, due to the sell pressure seen in NASCON (-5.43%), HONYFLOUR (-4.79%) and FLOURMILL (-1.61%).
· NGX Industrial Index: Declined by 0.05%, on the back of the loss recorded in WAPCO (-0.91%).

The equities market closed positively today due to the gains printed in the Banking and Oil and Gas sectors. Going forward, we expect investor’s sentiments to be swayed by the search for real positive returns and developments in the interest rate space.
