The Nigerian equities market closed positive today by 1.05% as NGX-ASI closed at 53,275.49pts.
In today’s trade, market breadth index was negative with 29 losers against 21 gainers.
TRANSCOHOT (+9.89%) was the top gainer, while CONOIL (-9.93%) led the losers today.
TRANSCORP (-6.77%) was the most actively traded stock with about 48million units of shares worth about N61million.
Sector Performances
· NGX Industrial Index: Rose by 0.14%, due to the gains printed in BETAGLASS (+9.74%), MEYER (+3.33%), and WAPCO (+1.59%).
· NGX Oil and Gas Index: Decreased by 0.79%, on the back of sell pressure witnessed in CONOIL (-10.00%), ETERNA (-9.59%) and ARDOVA (-4.00%).
· NGX Banking Index: Declined by 0.76%, due to the losses printed in FIDELITYBK (-4.93%), ETI (-4.80%), and UBN (-2.31%).
· NGX Consumer Goods Index: Fell by 0.23%, as a result of the losses recorded in CHAMPION (-4.29%), INTBREW (-1.84%) and UNILEVER (-1.33%).

The equities market closed positive today due to the gains recorded in MTNN and the Industrial sector. Going forward, we expect investor’s sentiments to be swayed by the search for real positive returns and developments in the interest rate space.
