MIDDAY UPDATE: Nigerian Stocks Head Southwards -0.02% Dragged by Consumer, Oil & Gas Counters

Market movers: BUACEMENT (-9.97%), ARDOVA (-5.02%), FCMB (+7.69%) and PRESCO (+2.69%).

Sector Performances: Consumer Goods (-0.05%), Oil and Gas (-0.02%), Banking (+0.01%) and Industrial.

Market activity: In today’s trade, total volume and value decreased by 60% and 49% respectively, compared to this time yesterday, as investors have traded about 74million units of shares worth N753million. TRANSCORP (+2.27%) is the most actively traded stock thus far with about 16million units of shares accounting for about 22% of the total volume.

Likely close: In the absence of significant gains in the prices of DANGCEM, MTNN and AIRTELAFRI, the market should close southwards today if the losses printed in the Consumer Goods and Oil/Gas sectors persist.
