MIDDAY UPDATE: Nigerian Stocks Gain +0.49%, Driven by Banking, Oil & Gas Counters

Market movers: ETI (+9.79%), JOHNHOLT (+9.52%), PZ (-9.20%) and RTBRISCOE (-8.33%).

Sector Performances: Banking (+1.16%), Oil and Gas (+0.26%), Consumer Goods (-0.27%) and Industrial.

Market activity: In today’s trade, total volume increased by 37%, while total value decreased by 6%, compared to this time last week Friday, as investors have traded about 71million units of shares worth N636million. OANDO (+1.93%) is the most actively traded stock thus far with about 17million units of shares accounting for about 24% of the total volume.

Likely close: In the absence of significant losses in the prices of DANGCEM, MTNN and AIRTELAFRI, the market should close positive today if the gains seen in the Banking and Oil and Gas sectors persist.
