MIDDAY UPDATE: Nigerian Stocks Gains +0.04% Driven by Banking, Consumer Goods Counters

Market movers: SOVRENINS (+8.00%), INTBREW (+5.56%), WAPIC (-8.57%) and UPDCREIT (-8.20%).

Sector Performances: Banking (+0.48%), Consumer Goods (+0.22%), Oil and Gas (-0.41%) and Industrial.

Market activity: In today’s trade, total volume and value decreased by 40% and 51% respectively, compared to this time yesterday, as investors have traded about 34 million units of shares worth N480 million. TRANSCORP is the most actively traded stock thus far with about 8 million units of shares accounting for about 24% of the total volume.

Likely close: In the absence of significant losses in the prices of DANGCEM, MTNN and AIRTELAFRI, the market should close in green if the gains recorded in the Banking and Consumer Goods sectors persist.
