The Nigerian equities market settled higher by 0.73% as the NGX-ASI closed at 44,788.14pts.
In today’s trade, market breadth index was negative with 18 losers against 9 gainers.
BUACEMENT (+10.00%) led the gainers, while ROYALEX (-9.64%) was the top loser today.
MBENEFIT was the most actively traded stock with about 47 million units of shares worth about N13.28 million.
Sector Performances
· NGX Industrial Index: Advanced by 4.01%, due to the appreciation seen in the price of BUACEMENT (+10.00%).
· NGX Banking Index: Increased by 0.49%, driven by the buy-interests in JAIZBANK (+8.99%), UBN (+8.47%) and STERLNBANK (+2.63%).
· NGX Oil and Gas Index: Contracted by 0.18%, as a result of the decline in price of OANDO (-1.15%).
· NGX Consumer Goods Index: Fell by 0.09%, on the back of losses recorded in HONYFLOUR (-3.33%) and UNILEVER (-2.78%).

The equities market closed positively today due to the gains recorded in the Banking and Industrial sectors. Going forward, we expect investor’s sentiments to be swayed by the search for real positive returns and developments in the interest rate space. We reiterate that this may be a great period to pick up some quality names with a medium to long-term investment horizon.
